Ok, Hope I did the right thing.
I bit the bullet and got Beano castrated today. He was microchipped at the same time.
Picked him up 3/4 hour ago and he is just sitting there looking Very fed up :(
Oh I do hope he will talk to me again :(
Now he has just started falling asleep sitting up!!!!!!!
I have never had dogs before, always bitches.
I have been told not to feed him til 8, and then only a bit.
Not walk him tonight.
And just keep an eye on him.
Oh and make sure he doesnt scratch or lick too much.
Any one have any other advice or is that it???????
Oh I do feel cruel.
(oh and did a silly thing of leavoing him in the living room while I went and cleared the garden of dog muckas soon as we got back from the vet. One nice puddle and heap!!!!!!! Oh well, it was my fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
But the nurse loved him :D (so does everyone else)

Hi Lea,

I had Toby castrated whilst he was under for teeth removal.  Done front and back end at once.  Benjamin was already castrated when he came to me from rescue.

Just give your lad tlc.  I cooked some fresh salmon for Toby as a treat.  I was told to keep Toby on a lead for seven days, no running round the fields.

They are so resiliant.  It never ceases to amaze me how dogs and cats just get on with it.  Me, I  would take to bed for a week even with a cold.

Keep him warm and lots of cuddles and thoughts to you all.  I would give you both a hug but cant find any emoticons.

Best Wishes

Tessa

Rang the vet up today to ask what I should be looking for with regards to 'Sac' size, he was very large.
Took him back to the vets and the vet agreed and he has had 2 jabs, one of antibiotics and one of Anti inflammatarys. And given an Elizabethen collar. Put it on him and he was like a dog possesed. Running around and going to give himself a serious injury. How can you put those things on withour distressing him so much?????? (I couldnt leave him the way he was so only had it on him for maximum 30 secs!!!!)
Can anyone help????

They do get used to it but only if it is left on, may be the vet could give you a sedative for the 1 st day. It is important that he leaves the area alone till he has healed up internaly.

Well, Was back at work today so had to take him with me. He spent the day, curled up in the van asleep, or looking out of the window at what was going on. Checked on him alot, and so did my work mates, and he was fine. Think the anti inflammatary worked. The area isnt as swollen and he isnt trying to lick it half as much!!!!!!Took the collar with me just in case, ready to get my work mates to help me keep him calm etc, but didnt need it :)
He is still subdued, But is getting back to his normal bouncy self!!!!! Back to work with me again tommrow.
thanks.
