Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help.  I am going on holiday in June and need to find a kennel in the north east who could look after my two shih tzus and two cats?  The problem is I spoke to a friend who put her shih tzu into a kennel and when they came back the dogs coat was all matted and had to be shaved off.  I also did my work expreience  (a few years ago( at a quite well known kennels however, they told people that their dogs would be grommed once a day and walked three times aday,  Some dogs didnt get walked every day once never mind three and no dogs I say got groomed until their owners picked them up.  Can any one help?

Where about in the North East are you. I know of a fab kennel near to Scunthorpe and they have a groomer on site too :-)

I found that Black Banks kennels in Darlington were very good, but I've heard a rumour that they were closing. Don't no how true that is though.

Hi Eddie,
My daughter did her works experience at 'Amirene' in Bishop, Just before Royal Oak. They were very good. The dogs had regular 'people' contact and had at least one walk a day. They were lovely and clean and very nice Kennel Maids. I don't know if they would charge extra to Groom a long haired breed though. They are quite hidden so if you got their number from the Yellow Pages it's best to get directions.
The woman who owns it would have no problem with you going to see the place before booking. It is a cattery as well. My Anne-Marie loved it. She was there just before Christmas 2002. Let me know if you go see what you think.

I have tried several kennels in the past as have always had dogs. You know when you pick the dog up whether or not they are happy and one kennels I now always use is one in Matfen just off the A69.
They know the dogs they look after, I recently left my dalmation pup there for a weekend and when I picked her up the Kennel maid spent a good 15 minutes talking about her quiet behaviour which she wouldn't have known if she hadn't spent time with her. They are walked twice a day and are given cuddles (ahh!)
I used to put a cross-staffy in (couple of years ago) and they still mention him now so they do care unlike some who just want your money and don't bother with the dog/cat.
Their phone Number is 01661886675, go up for a visit first if you are unsure, you won't be dissapointed in them.
