Hello everyone!
I'm the owner of a four year-old yorkshire terrier named Puddles...I'm sure everyone knows why. :D Saturday evening my dog became ill, suddenly he'll yelp as if someone has stepped on him although no one is around, he immediately hunkers down to the ground and can barely walk for a minimum of twenty minutes. During this period he won't let anyone hold him, not even myself, a very uncommon thing with him I assure you. He also lies around the house for a good while after these episodes but afterwards returns to his normal hyper, fun self. At this time I don't have the money to take him to the vet so if anyone has had similiar problems PLEASE let me know. It would be much appreciated.
Thank You,
Puddles Mommy

bubble,
reguardless of money your dog sounds in pain this is not normal behaviour and lasting 20 minuites at a time you are being really unfair to put your dog through this....
even if you have to go to the vet and AFTER the appointment make alternative payment arangements PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do this.... your dog can't tell you whats wrong, and can't take himself to get it fixed.

If the guest is in the UK they can get help. If they are on some sort of benifit the PDSA will help with the vet fees and the RSPCA will treat for a donation, one thing is clear this dog must be treated.
I ran up a £570 vets bill when I was unemployed a while ago and the vets are brilliant. If you explain your circumstances to them they are always happy to come up with a payment plan with you - even if you can only afford to pay £5 a week over however many weeks.
The wellbeing of your much loved dog must be a priority - worry about the money later.
I'm not a vet but my parents used to breed yorkies and we had them right the way through my childhood - the last one died aged 16 and from what your describing it might be little strokes that your dog is having.
Please take him to the vets.

I agree with everyone else PLEASE take him to the vet. It sounds very like my dog when he had a trapped nerve. It is an excrutiating pain & you can't let him suffer. Explain to the vet before he starts to treat your dog & they are usually very understanding.
i have contacted some other yorkie owners that i no hoping they will reply later this evening or tommorow morning to get some advice for you about . also it it possible to see the pdsa vet they are free .

Everyone,
Thank you soo much for your concern! Puddles took a visit to the vet today thanks to the financial help of a good friend. His problem? A slight fever and some intestinal problems. Isn't it strange how the smallest things can be of such an effect. However, the doctor also said he thought my little guy had possibly been kicked by a local person while outside, due to a little bruising on his ribs...please beware of your dogs and their safety...I have learned that even the nicest neighborhoods are sometimes not what they appear.

Think that is what we all thought, glad it is able to be sorted without too much expence. If you are in the UK it may be worth finding the address of the PDSA and the RSPCA who would be able to help if you need a vet again and cant afford it. The PDSA seem to offer help with local vets if they do not have a surgery in your area, well they have a poster to that effect in our local vets. Contact them and see what help they will offer.
