Hi Eveyone
Im getting a Weimaraner puppy in about 5 to 6 weeks. Dont no what the breeder is feeding the pup on yet.
But does anyone no what the best food to feed a Weimaraner puppy on. and what age is the best to change
pups food, from puppy food to junior and then on to adult.
Thanks
Loulu.

You would do well to keep the puppy on whatever the breeder has it on to begin with and a lot will depend on what that is as to when you change the pup over.
Generally puppy to Junior is at about 5-6 months and then adult at 9-12 months depending on the actual food and the fact that the pup is a Weim. We do have some Weim folks here on the board , hopefully they will see this and off better advice
Melody :)

Hi Loulu, congrats on getting your Weimi pup; as mentioned previously if your breeder is experienced they will probably use a food that they have had success with and give you a diet sheet. Weimis can have tummy problems, usually because they will eat anything, like most gundogs, but not everything agrees with them :D
I don't feed my Weims commercial dog food any more but when I did I used puppy food until 6 months, then changed over to junior until 18 months and then they were on regular adult food. Weims should be kept away from "high octane fuel" unless of course they are worked extremely hard. :D
I have never found the need to feed my dogs a "working" formula even though I compete with them in Working Trials etc.

Please do not be overly alarmed; as in all things in life there are dogs/humans who will react badly to vaccines and those who don't. However it is wise to discuss your concerns with your vet before you get your puppy so that you can see what your options are; for what it is worth all 4 of mine have been normally vaccinated and have had no post vaccine problems. That is not to say that do not exist but I weighed up the pros and cons and the lifestyles of my dogs etc and came to the decision after a risk analysis that I would go for them being vaccinated.
That said I am a great believer in homoeopathic remedies although even my H vet said that there is no PROOF that homoeopathic nosodes work; I also take my dogs out in public as soon as I have them (7 weeks) and do not "wait" as most people are advised to as I personally believe that the risks of undersocialisation on my breed are greater than the risks posed to my dog by taking it out before 12 weeks.
Each of us has to come to our own decisioon based on our own particular set of circumstances/knowledge/experience etc.
