Knowing her breed would be helpful!

How old is she? Has she had all breed-relevant health tests (not a check-up by your vet)?

Do you mean she is a crossbreed?
As she is a family pet (whatever she is!), why on earth do you want to breed from her?
Why don't you join if you want more information?
There are far too many unwanted dogs - crossbreeds & purebred, so you have to have a very good reason for breeding. For example, if she is an excellent example of her breed or has excellent working ability.

If she is a crossbreed you're obviously not doing it for money - do you have 4-8 guaranteed homes homes lined up for the resulting puppies & will you be able to take them back at any time in their lives should their new owners not be able to keep them for any reason? Do you have plenty of spare money for vet's bills should your bitch need emergency treatment when whelping, not to mention all the extras pups will need.

There is much more to be considered when breeding than finding a stud dog & putting him to your bitch.

As she has just come into season it's really to late to start planning a mating, so take the next 6 months to very carefully consider what you want to do and why.
