I have a westie pup and her skin looks quite pink especially around the eyes.  Her skin is dark and pink and inside her mouth is the same.  Will this cause any problems with allergys etc?  she is 10 months now and its most noticable after a shower (won't go in bath and the water is cool) she doesn't seem bothered she also has a black mark on her tail which i've been told is a gland if anyone knows about that will it be ok?

Some westies have pink skin some have darker.   Ones that are more pinky do tend to look pinker around the eyes also.

I personally don't think one is more likely or prone to problems.    Remember they are white and a lot of white coated dogs are pinky.

It is still very much debated what or if westies have as much problems as sometimes it appears.

Touch wood I am onto my 4th and not had any problems at all.  Good diets, good breeders all help to avoid any problems. Again this is my opinion.

Cant say about the tail but it is not uncommon for them to have black hairs , can't comment on the gland thing you mention.

Any doubt ask the vet about the tail.
