im am fedup i want to feed my dog the best i can, i feed him on bakers in the morning and barf in the evening along with fresh fruit and veg, he is doing very well and has a beautiful coat, but i am fedup, i hear bakers is good and my vet said it is a good complete diet then people tell me its not so good, then i look at other foods and people have good and bad things to say, ? does anyone know what the best food type is, i personally think if my dog is happy and eats well and i think the food i give him is ok then why worry, but it makes you ? everytime someone says other wise,
does anyone really know the very best food to feed your dog on is.
Heidi

everyone has a personal opinion on food.
If you are happy with Bakers & BARF,& more importantly your dogs look good on it, I'd stick with it. Can't be so bad if you're dogs do well on it.
If you change to something else, before long you'll hear bad things about that food too.
:) stay with it - if all is well. :)
Look at the ingredients if the first one is a grain or if it has by-products then it is a crappy food,go for one that has the least amount of ingredients,i feed a brand named "innova" the first ingredients are: turkey
chicken
potatoes
eggs
barley
chicken fat
herring
sunflower oil
apples
carrots
alfalfa.
The most important thing is they use all human grade ingredients,i go on the basis of iff i cant eat it then neither can my dogs, compare the ingredients of bakers to the ones above and make your own mind up.If your dog is doing great on bakers then imagine how well he will do on a super premium food??I dont just want my dogs to survive on the foods i give them i want them to thrive and i know i am giving them the best,i also do half and half or should i say i am trying as i am still battling with them to eat dry food they would much rather have their home made meals than commercial obviously. Like the above poster said there will always be someone that doesn't like someting or rather about a particular food, but if you are feeding the most natural and healthy food then you will have nothing to feel guilty about ;)

I definitely agree with the other posters. There is a website that posts the basics of what should and should not be in a good food, as well as it's list of top dog foods. The link is: http://members.aol.com/smplyschnz/nutrition/wdjtopten.html I found this site and changed my food from a grocery store brand, I now feed mine Canidae ( http://www.canidae.com ) If I didn't feed Canidae, Innova is probably the only other dog food I would consider feeding, as I feel they are the best foods out there. I don't know much about bakers, but some of the super premium foods are a little hard to find sometimes, but it's only because they're not sold at grocery stores and stores like Petsmart, which is often a sign of a good food. Both websites listed explain what ingredients and why should be in a food, and other useful information. Hope this helps!

No doubt a lot of parents have the same philosophy :D If their children are happy and eat well then why worry if their diet is primarily processed foods such as hamburgers, pizzas, soft drinks, sweets etc etc etc
The very best food to feed any living thing is that which it was designed to eat; free from as much artificial additives as possible.
But that is only my personal opinion.
ps Innova is not available in the UK and there are no plans to make it available here in the immediate future
