Hi Guest, join a breed club and join in any activity they have, read their recommended health requirements and make sure you dog has taken them and been passed as healthy, enter your dog into shows, open to start with and then Championship one so people with bitches can see your dog and access his quality. Unless you have handled a stud dog before you will need help till you learn the ropes, so approach your dogs breeder for help with this and make sure that his first few bitches are not maidens.

As well as this it is helpful to have a kennel for visiting bitches and room to put up the bitches handler, as you will be responsible for any puppies born it is best you also have room to take any unsold or returned pup should the need arise, the bitches owner will normally do this but you are equally liable for what your dog produces so it is good to be prepared. Third party insurance is also advisable in case the dog should injury the bitch or pass on an infection for which you may be liable.

Hi,
What you need to do is get him known! The way to do this is by showing him - if he's good then his worth will be recognised and bitch owners will ask if they can use him. If he isn't good enough, he won't do any winning, and people won't ask. Even if he is only reasonable, and does some winning, it isn't guaranteed that anyone will want to use him. After all, there are plenty of well-bred, very handsome Champions available at stud - it takes a good dog to be able to compete with them!

So join one of the Breed Clubs (see here ) and take it from there. Members are always willing to help a newcomer - especially if his breeder is also a member.

Hi
Dalamatians can be very strong forceful characters, if he is basically a pet I would think twice about using him at stud.  Once he has had the taste for it you could find yourself in all sorts of trouble when walking him, especially off lead.  They can be very headstrong at the best of times, on the scent of a bitch he could be a totally different dog to what he is now.
