I would like to get a (female) beagle puppy for our family. I used to have a beagle when I was a child and I remeber them as very affectionate and fun dogs - if a bit daft. My concern is that I live in London. I live in a house with a garden and opposite a park and there is almost always someone around all the time. I have a 3 year old and the house - and park opposite - of often full of children. Do you think it is fair to have abeagle in town?

If so, does anyone know where I might get a female puppy - obviously Christmas would be exciting - but that does not really matter.

Thanks

I have always found this town vs country thing funny. alot of us townies have dog walking fascilities that many in the country would envy! I have two large Country Parks within walking distance and other smaller recreation grounds and fields where dogs are allowed. with a hunting breed like mine, and the beagle being in town can be a positive blessing as regards being able to give off lead excersise as there are fewer creatures for them to try and hunt, and hence disobey you, :D

Friends with dogs in the country that do not have large grounds of their own often struggle to find somewhere to take their dogs safely. road walking is dangerous due to fast moving trraffic on narrow lanes without pavements, I could go on!

If you have the time and facilities are good, then your Beagle will have the time of its life where you are.

Would have thought that your home would be suitable for a beagle but of course it depents on the breeder you chose, they will decide if you can offer what they want for their puppies. Sorry if that sounds rude, didn't meen to. Oh and Christmas is not a good time to bring a puppy into the home, too much noise, too much food, too much mess, too much danger, too much everything. Much better in the new year. I'm assuming your home is much like mine but you may be organised and your children responsible angles, if so how do you do it? JH
