I HAVE 2 JACK RUSSELL TERRIERS THE FEMALE IS 1 YEAR AND 5 MONTHS THE MALE IS 1 YEAR AND 3 MONTHS THEY ARE FROM COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PARENT.
MY QUESTION IS ARE THEY TOO YOUNG TO BREED?
ALSO THE MALES SEEMS TO HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO MATE,HE TRIES TO MATE HER HEAD, IS THIS BECAUSE HE IS TOO YOUNG? OR HOW DO I GO ABOUT MATING THEM?

Yes they are too young - at least your bitch is. Separate them for the rest of her season and wait till she's 2 years old.

Thank you for taking the time to read my questions and replying on reading your advice we will at least wait until she is 2 so then both of them will be much more mature thank you again
yours,
MR. T MARABLE

I would join the breed club nearest you and the national breed club. You may be able to get in touch with the breeders of the parents or some of the Grandparents of both your dogs. Expoerienced breeders looking at their pedigrees will know if they are suited as to bloodlines, and if you got to some shows, or arange to meet with an experienced breeder and judge then they will be able to assess if either is of breeding quality.
The fact that the dogs breeder does not want to stay in touch rather makes me think that they do not ahve an abiding interest in what they breed (so maybe their breeding choices are questionable).
Joining the breed clubs will open up a whole wealkth of contacts and evnets that you can attend and join in with to gain knowledge and enjoy yourself with your dogs.

Yes, the bitch is too young. You should wait to mate her until her season after she is 2 years of age.
When the male has tried to mount her has she actually been in season, or is it at any time? You might find that he'll know exactly what to do when she is 'ready' and giving him the right signals.

It is all the time that he does this.

Even then he may need help, as a general rule it is not usual to mate a maiden bitch to a maiden dog, you may have more success to use an experienced dog on your bitch for the first time and an experienced bitch for your inexperienced dog. The animals breeders should be able to help you find a suitable mate for you bitch if you are not sure which lines would be suitable.

Thank you for reading my question and replying. However the male dogs breeders never wanted contact and the bitches breeders have moved house and we have no forwarding address, so what now? We've decided to mate her after she is two but do we help him to mate her right or what can we do?

Did you ask the bitches breeder if the dog you were buying was from compatible lines before you bought him, or was it round the other way, I am assuming you bought the two as a breeding pair. If you did not and are now at a loss to know what to do, I would suggest you join one of the breed clubs and the experienced people who belong to the club may be able to help you.

Sorry Tony, I didn't realise they were working terriers, assumed they were Parsons, in which case you will have to ask advice among the people who are into working terriers. Sorry I should not assume that they were pet or show dogs.

It is not your fault Jackie, I should have explained better. However they are pet dogs and I am not using them as working dogs, even though many folk that have Jack Russells have them for ratters don't they!

You are correct that is what they are used for Tony, well if you breed your dogs they will be Jack Russel type but as there is not a breed as such registered with the Kennel Club they are to all intent crossbreeds/mongrels. Having said that so are a lot of other dogs such as Lurchers who because they are working breeds there is a market for. In your case because your dogs are pets and not working dogs are you sure you have a good reason to breed them, please believe me I am not trying to be critical of you but you are going to put your dogs at risk and give yourself a lot of work and expense to produce pups that you may have trouble to place in good homes.
