Christmas over and my husband has gone back working away, my daughter has caught chicken pox and should have been back at school today. Dolly hasn't had any exercise for 3days, i have phoned everyone i can think of to come and walk her for me or at least sit in with my daughter while i take her(but they avoiding us like the plague).
I phoned a 'dog walker' up this morning out the local paper and the woman said it was her son that walks the dogs and he is 12 :(
I've ended up sticking my daughter in her wheelchair at 9pm tonight with lotion on her face and glowing like a beacon lol and doing 3laps round the estate. Argghhhhh!

What does everyone else do at times like these??

Im the other side of the coin, being childless and a dog walker (although im trying to give it up - im just a sucker for a sad tale  ) people always phone me first to come and give their dog a walk.  Its surprising the amount of keys I have for various peoples houses for both cats and dogs so they can call me if they get held up for any reason :)

Have you tried playing with your dog in the garden? Twenty minutes mental stimulation will do her the world of good. Make the dog use her brain and she will be happy for a while. When my bitches are in season they do not go out for three weeks and being an active breed, they would go stir crazy without some form of stimuli. Try playing some games with her.It won't kill her not to go out for a few days.

I'm lucky too. Even on days when we both have to go out to work we work opposites and the dog still gets walked with rug rat in his buggy. If they are ever ill I can usually get a sitter for an hour once they go to bed.

How old is Dolly now? You'll have to send me a picture :)

I sympathise Sarah.  My eldest son and I share the care of our two spaniels.  Unfortuately I had a big operation just before Christmas and am incapacitated for 6 weeks.  This time has also coincided with son getting girlfriend and staying at hers most nights.  I do have young son but he can't be left alone and it's a bit much expecting him to walk for an hour before school.

I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful neighbour who is happy to bundle my two in with her four and walk them in the wilderness at 6am in the morning!  I am not sure how we will work things when I am back on my feet if eldest is still absent.

My dad is calling up after tea to walk Dolly, but boy it's been an eye-opener this past few days i suppose it's something you don't consider but should when buying a pup (not that Dolly's a pup now, mind :D
Even my dad did a disappearing act for a few days but he has come to his senses and will walk her till friday. ;)
No spots appeared today so hopefully thats the end of the chicken pox (Maisie still thinks she caught them from a KFC she ate last week)
