Just before christmas I wrote on this forum about my shih-tzu having some sort of allergy which she has had on and off for a while. We had a blood test done which has come back today. It says she is 86% allergic to fleas or a flea bite. The vet says this is quite high. He can't find any fleas or dirts on her and when I have taken her in the past, there has been no signs of fleas. I spray the house and spray her with Frontline. The vets says this may not be strong enough. I thought this was the best you could use. My other shih-tzu shows no signs of having fleas so I'm a bit confused. Has anyone else come across this. When we had cats in the past (not with the dogs) and even one flea was present, my husband would get bitten. We have not seen any fleas and no one has been bitten. I spray their beds regularly and change the bedding often.
Hi,
I'm pretty sure if you use Frontline on the recommended basis, you won't have a flea problem. Unless of course the house was infested prior to treating the dogs, in which case they may still be breeding in carpets, etc, but with Frontline, even if they jump on your dogs, it should then kill them pretty quick. If the vet has said Frontline might not be strong enough, did he recommend anything else? I can't think there's anything better you could be treating the dogs with.
