Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Recipe for Liver Cake
- By Alli [gb] Date 02.01.04 23:58 UTC
Hi there, wondering if anyone could give me a recipe for liver cake. I recently bought some at a show and both my girlies loved it. I'd like to make it for them to take to shows as it seems to keep them on their toes.
Thanks
Alli

Here's mine - 1lb liver - lambs is best  8ozs flour  1 egg   tablespoon of vegetable oil  some water and optional garlic.  Liquidise the lot and bake as a sponge.  Cooks well in the microwave and is better slightly undercooked than overcooked

Thanks to everyone for the recipies. I'm sure my dogs will really appreciate them. I'm just off to start baking. I can see my kids and man being really happy about this (what about cakes for us !!) I hear the cry already lol.
Thanks again

Bake a big batch, cut it into single portions and freeze it. Leave at room temp. for a while to defrost as you want it. They love it just the same, and its as easy to make lots as a little.

I do mine the same as sally, (in microwave) but then I cool it and cut it into squares and re-bake it in the oven until it is hard (and I mean hard). Then it can be kept unfrozen for weeks and weeks. The dogs love it.

I`ve done it in the oven before, how long do you do it in the microwave for and what setting? Is it high?

Thanks
Hilary.

Hi everyone, just baked my first batch of liver cake (smells delightful lol) Dogs were milling in and out of the kitchen at every opportunity trying to see what was smelling so good. So now my freezer has liver cake and tripe in it,  hmm what more could we ask for. Isn't it amazing what we dog lovers do for our pooches? Thanks to all who gave me recipies and advice on this matter.

Hi Ali,

I`ve just done a batch as well, my 6 month lab was so impressed with the smell as it was cooling she had 2 long strands of saliva about 4 " from both sides of her mouth :D

Must say the liver cake smelt delicious though !!!!
