labradors can suffer rom narrow ear canals, which means air does not circulate properly and excess wax cant escape, combined with a relativly heavy drop ear it is a recipies for ear infections. you need to get this checked uot by a vet. Do they smell at all, or look red and inflammed in the actual ear itself?
It is important to seek veterinary attention as if left untreated the inflammation can reach a level that along with the other troubles, scar tissue will narrow the canal further, and possibly result in major surgery. Ive seen many a lab need this surgery, along with Rotties. Seems to be breeds bred for tight ears that suffer. Staffords also are going down this root with their smaller and smaller rose ears.
It means we have to cut away most of the ear canal to allow air to get to the inner ear etc. Worst case senarios involve the removal of the inner eear.
Not wishing to scaremonger, but just want to get across that even a simple earache can esculate into something serious left untreated!
