Leigh,
Following my post on Tillys postings - a consent form for the section was never signed, and was only mentioned by the Vet that she had overlooked the form due to the emergency situation, since then it has never been mentioned. As I said before I have only the gut feeling that the Vet was at fault, especially from the look she gave the nurse when she realised Woo had stopped breathing, I was present during the op, stupidly enough I actually noticed that the uterus was losing colour whilst the vet and nurse were working on the pups, but it did not sink in until afterwards the reason for it. If you can help with the legalities of consent forms it would be much appreciated as I don't know very much about it. Nothing can bring Woo back but I would hate anyone to go through the anguish that we have.
thanks Lorraine

Lorraine,
Sorry, I really do not know what the legalities of consent forms are. Maybe Sierra might know? I'm afraid I am just very cynical about certain things these days. When you said that you signed a consent form after the tragic turn of events. I had this image in my head of you in tears and in shock and the vet shoving a form and pen in your hand demanding a signature. It was obviously in their interest's for you to sign that form a.s.a.p.
You can not blame yourself for what happened at the vets Lorraine. Your dog was in the hands of professionals at the time. You did what you could in very differcult circumstances and I really don't envy you being in that situation.
Maybe Sierra can clarify, but I would hazard a guess that once the form was signed, and unless it had a date and more importantly a time of signature on it, you will not have a leg to stand on.

Actually, most consent forms are not worth the paper upon which they are written. I would certainly talk to a solicitor that is dog issue aware. Since the paper is not dated and was signed after the operation, it is a moot issue.

Hi to you both and thanks, a consent form was never produced - before or after op and therefore never signed by me - it was hurriedly mentioned by the vet after the op that they had not given me one to sign due to the emergency situation.
