I have a gorgeous 16 wk old GSd puppy, she is doing very well with basic commands, eg sit, stay & recall. she meets lots of other dogs so is well socialised.
As i live in middle of nowhere, she is rarely on a lead, but i want to train her on lead so she gets used to it & doesnt pull, tho it seems silly putting her on a lead in middle of a field!
What experiences should i give her at this age? Is she too young to be taken on a train/into a shopping mall etc- i dont want to exhaust her with new experiences.
she is bright so i am sure she would enjoy training but i'm not sure what sort? Should i take her to obedience/clicker/ general puppy classes or should i find someone who specialises in training GSD's ?
Can anyone recommend a trainer in guildford or surrey area?
I would appreciate advice from experienced dog/gsd owners!
Try the BAGSD website, sorry, don't know the address, Google should know, I know there is one in Yateley that a friend recommended but there may be one closer to you
As for new experiences, it can never be too soon, as long as you take it at a speed that suits your puppy. Obi is 11 weeks old now and in the 5 weeks we have had him, hhas met loads of different dogs, children, adults. I have taken him into the village to get used to a busier atmosphere and he has come along to watch what goes on in agility, oh and of course lots of trips in the car. He is very well socialised and at the moment vey confident and friendly with everyone.
Good Luck
