We are thinking of a second dog for the family, and are considering a Samoyed. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has experience of this breed, particularly how they fit in with other dogs.

Sammies like my own breed are one of the Spitz breeds that tend to get on well with other dogs.  If you can cope with the grooming and care needed to keep that white coat in pristine condition then you should have no problems.  Remeber they are Spitz and therefore not a yes dog, even though they are very affable and friendly.

They do tend to have a rather high pitched bark for a dog their size, and some I have met have been very yappy.  This is something often said about my own breed, and it is a matter of not letting unecesary barking become established.  I know some perfectly nice quiet Sammies too!

Do you have experience of Sammys? They are quite a handful & need very firm training. They are also very strong for their size. Lovely happy dogs though & usually get along fine with other dogs.
Just make sure you know exactly what you are taking on!
