Hello, I live in Co Fermanagh and am looking for a female JR pup (the smaller type, smooth haired with Queen Anne shaped legs!) to be ready around March/April 2004. I do not want it to have its tail docked as the 3 previous JRs which I have owned all seem to have been driven mad at times by their tail stump. I also think that it is unnecessary. I would very much like also the pup to be tri coloured as I would rather not be painfully reminded of either of my last 2 who were just tan & white. Do I ask too much? This pup will be loved and cared for like a child!
If you know of a suitable one can you please email me at: velmamccullagh@btopenworld.com
I'm happy to drive most anywhere in Ireland.
Thankyou for your time,
Velma

Hi there,
I have a JR like you're after, except his tail IS docked and YES, he goes mad at his stump. He chases round in circles for ages trying to get :( I think there's got to be something in the docking that gets to them.
Sorry I can't help in your finding one tho'...just wanted to say that I have the same bother with mine and his little stump.
Good luck in your search :)

I have a friend who has a jack russel that hasn't had its tailed docked, and im affraid it still chases its tail round and round, but actually catches it. It has made it bleed on a number of occasions when it has got really wound up over something. Maybe its just the breed?

LuLu, this sounds like separation anxiety or just plain boredom?? from my experience of JRs anyhow!
Thankyou for your thoughts, however I am determined not to purchase one with a docked tail. I do wish that it was completely illegal to do it.
