Hiya All!
I bet you have all covered this topic many many times before, but i havent really got time to check each post under season.. so here goes!
Beau, is an 8 month old stafford just having her 1st season. Can you tell me how much blood she should be losing/ How much is too much? Do i think its a lot.. as at a guess shes not good at keeping herself clean?
Many thanks

Hope you all had a crackin xmas

Hi,
All bitches differ as to how much blood they lose, and how much they keep themselves clean. The first season tends to be the heaviest, but some only spot a little, whereas others make a real mess! Both are normal.

This is something that you are going to have to deal with for the next 9 -12 years if you keep your bitch unneutered. I think taking 5 minutes to read past threads on this topic is not to much to ask. Members have answered this question a million times before and given much good advice. Maybe they do not have time to keep repeating the info either. Just a thought :-)

Hiya
JG.. many thanks! I can rest to know shes ok...:)

Admin.. i did say i knew it had probably been answered a million times before, so therefore i found your answer i littlle rude! :) I wouldnt be asking if i new the answer would i? I was just worried thats all. I dont have a problem with the blood itself.. just the amount.. how do i know whats normal if the books i have dont really cover the amount?  As for having time... im at work so i can keep my 2 to the best of my ability! But i will read the threads when i get home... 2 be sure not to waste anyones time.

CHEERS!!!

Edited to say.. Im sure many of CD's members would reapeat themselves a million times if they thought it was helping the dogs and their owners... Just a thought also :)

Hi Donna

Humm..... repeat ourselves a million times.  Definitely Not!   I don't know whether other people do but I certainly get fed up with repeat posts, so often tend to do a quick search and say "look here" or don't bother to reply at all.

Searches are simple to do - click on the word Search at the top of the page and follow the instructions then sort though the replies.  Since the board has been updated and you can now read part of the post just by hovering over it with the mouse searches are even more useful, simple and faster.

My very thoughts Admin!

When you buy a bitch you know she is going to come into season at some time in the not to distant future. That is the time to find out the details. Over the years I alone have answered this question many times and others probably even more. To insinuate that your time is more important than others on here is insulting in the extreme.

To be fair, I have never come across a book that accurately tells you how much blood loss is normal during a season - and if there is one, then my girls have never read it, because every single one of them has been different! At least Donna is aware that blood loss is normal, not like some of the drongos who post on here unaware of even this basic fact!
:)

Ok, ive found a post regarding dripping of blood and it answers all i needed to know. Yes i could of dont this first but id obviously missed this post last night when reading up. Id also read the book of the bitch... which didnt really answer my query.
Im sure i know enough about bitches to do well in bringing her up... this was one thing id never thought about or read about.
After all thats said and done at least i know the answer, and beau is ok.

Hi Donna
Ebony started her 1st on 19 Dec , I wasn't sure at first but a few days later i knew it could be nothing else I know exactly how you feel
I seem to be constantly mopping up . Her erratic behaviour before has now been answered and she has now calmed down .
I keep saying to myself it wont last long . I will be glad when we can go out for a walk again  though she thinks i've forgotten what the lead looks like.

When my first GSD came into season she was a right mess blood everywhere (white GSD)got to the stage wher i kept hoesing her in the shower to clean her off, but when she had her second she realised what was going on and sorted it herself.
They have more blood loss after they have been asleep and got up, as it has been sitting there foe a while. Dreading my pup coming into season (another White GSD) prolly going to have to do the whole shower thing a gain :-D

Hiya
Since posting yesterday Beau has learnt to clean herself... I think i was a little freaked out by the amount that was dripping out. (i now know this is normal :) )  I was scared stiff it was something else, and i spent most of yesterday at work so couldnt read every post to put my mind at rest. I was just about to phone the vet when JG answered my post :)
I guess the shower thing is a good idea... i wonder how beau would react to showering lol
Shes totally unfazed by the whole episode.
