I would hope that any judge worth calling a judge would judge a Labrador on it's merits not it's colour and if I knew any judge to not judging on merit I would report them to the Kennel Club!
John

lol true. but unfortantly there are so many blind judges:( tho still more judges who do judge on confermation and movement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I think I know what they mean John some judges are not keen on chocs and some are worth putting a choc under where some wouldnt consider them.
Most judges will judge the dog and not the colour but sadly some do not.

Any judge who would judge like that should be reported. No messing, it's crooked! The judge should never get another appointment. The answer is in the hands of you show people. If you take a tough line on dishonest judging you could stamp it out. If you told me that the choc was being thrown out for poor pigmentation or poor coat which some chocs suffer from then I can agree with the judge's decision. You might not always agree with a judge's line up but if you can see the "Type" he or she is going for then it's just a matter of opinion. Unfortunately with some judges their live does not contain any sort of "Type" just a mish mash and in those cases I figure the judge has little idea of the breed. I remember years ago watching Margi Cairns judging Labradors at Crufts. I did not like her lines particularly, although good dogs they were not my taste but, and it's a big but, every one of her line was to type. Anyone could see exactly what she was looking for.
