My little 17 week old staff looks to be getting a bit thin on top we have only had her 2 weeks and have been feeding her on puppy pedigree chum (hoping to introduce her gradually to dry food as tinned food makes her windy!) is this a common disorder with staffies and how do i rectify it.

Hi Joanna
if it is mainly around the ears and top of the head then yes, some are quite prone to this . It does usally just grow back without needing any interference . Sometimes when they have a growth spurt it can be common too in this breed.
When you say baldness I presume you just mean the hair is thinner so you can see the skin below and not actually "bald" .
If he is actually bald then I would see the vet

It is nicknamed as "puppy baldness" and can be the result of teething. Sometimes bitches also get symetrical thinning around the time they are due a season and this is hormone related.

Hi staffie what age should i expect maisie to have her first season? I think she is going through a growing spurt at the moment she is very stocky (not fat!) for her age she just seems to wolf every thing down. I am so relieved it is a normal thing for staffies to get phew!! one last question will i get any clues when shes going to go into season. Never had girls before only boys. thanks x

Usually a staff has her first season at between 6 and 9 months. Main signs are swelling of the vulva and possible licking -yuk I know! Then of course she will start bleeding. A couple of weeks prior she may have some hormonal balding.
