ho ho ho everybody!,
Wheeler is really good when he's on the lead and walks close to me but he seems to be stopping a lot on our walks. I know that sometimes he likes to look around at his surroundings and at the cars but today we were in the field and he just stopped for a very long time and I had to pull him hard to make him start walking and then he stopped again and again! Does anyone have any idea why he might do this? and is there an easier way to solve it? Sorry if it sounds silly but as its my first dog I just want to make sure im doing everything right.
Merry Christmas to you all!

Dogs sniff a lot on walks as its like us watching a video of whose been along, how they are etc, especially if you go the same way every day. My dog stops to eat grass or to point at bugs, crisp packets, birds etc or to dig holes in the grass. We also play with a toy when were out to make it more interesting. He also stops and sits down when hes wanting off lead to run about as Ive always made him sit and wait for a release word to go off and play. Maybe Wheeler is sniffing or wondering what next?
