hello just been looking on your website. we have a 5 month old cocker spaniel golden in colour. his name is harley and is our first puppy.he is lots of fun, good company and loves to be fussed. he is our pet puppy we are not breeders . harley is a full pedigree and is kc registered. we think he is a fantastic colour and we love him to pieces. if we ever decided to stud him out in the future can you tell us how we would go about it. this is all  new to us and it is something that we have talked about.  regards dave & patricia.

Hi Guest,

If you think your dog is good, then it's definitely worth giving showing a try.
No reputable breeder would use an unknown and un-shown male with their bitch, so probably the best thing you could do is to get your dog in the show ring and see how he compares to the other dogs being shown.
If he does consistently well, you will most definitely have 'show' people asking about him.
If he doesn't do well, then maybe the best thing is to just keep him as a pet and enjoy him.

Also, with some males, if they've been used at stud once or twice, they can be very difficult to control.  Sometimes, it's better if they don't know what they're missing!
I'd definitely try showing before thinking any more about breeding.  I'm sure there will be more people along who will give better advice than I ever could!!  Why not join Champdogs?  There's always lots of advice and info on here.

Take care and all the best

Lisa

Hi, Glad you are so happy with your puppy. If he came for a reputable, experienced breeder your first move should be to discuss things with them. Even if you decide not to show, you could join a breed club & talk to as many owners as you can & attend some shows as a spectator or other Club events, so you get a better idea of whether your puppy is a good example of the breed or not.
Good Luck
