he/she has eaten, It started off with my GSd wiping her mouth along the sofa turn then the other side she then decided it would be better to push her mouth as far down the side of the cushions as she possibly could, then finally along your jeans. Well the pup has now picked this up and also rubs her mouth along my jeans.
I am going to buy them both a napkin :-D

Darcy doesnt do anything after eating, she's so greedy theres never a crumb left but beforehand is disgusting, she drools everywhere, and she's only a lab, how people handle real drooly breeds is beeyond me.

If we eat on the sofa she sits there with her head in your lap hoping she might get something and by the time you've finished eating your lap is soaking.

Yuck

Ours are very good and are trained to the "Chops" command after eating or drinking - they have to be, they're Spinoni :D  Exhaustive tests have shown that Bounty kitchen towels are far and away the best for absorbing chops' slime.  However, they are cunning and sly and always keep a bit of slime secreted somewhere in the beard for production moments after you think their chops are properly dried and they are attempting to sneak off to shake their heads to deposit said slime on the ceiling.  This is where the "Oh No You Don't" command comes into play as you vigourously apply the Bounty again ;)  Works every time!!!!

He always leaves a little piece or two in his bowl to be polite then checks out the floor, & waste bin for any interesting bits. Once hes assured its all gone, he lies down in his basket and sleeps.

ahhh, you  just bought a smile to my face-along with a tear .... My very much loved gsd (knookie) who  passed away 2 years and 10 months ago did just as you said yours is doing. It always made us laugh ,he hated being dirty or wet , so when i pinched a beer towel from the pub he thought that was great .After every meal he would come straight over and have his face wiped. But be warned you must get every little bit because gsd's are very fussy about their looks ..!    well , i sometimes think my black gsd thought the same !!!!!!!! :D

Id never seen a dog do that sort of thing till i met my neighbours (now sadly gone) Gsd,x bessie........she would wipe her face on the sofa, and then do a sort of head stand on the carpet to clean her chops!

Then i got Dilly, he has a hairy hairy ole face, and cleans it on anything handy, people, furniture, amusingly the cat......owt will do him!

Rocky has NEVER cared if he has cack all over his face and has been known to walk around with a string of drool going out one side of his mush, round his nose and back in teh other!

Harvey, my gwp, wipes his face along the back of the sofa and the edge of my desk.  He also comes and puts his head on my lap after a drink.

My Spanish, Anton, rubs his face along the sofa too and then across me, most of my Spanish especially Anton's mum, love to come up to me with their wet beards after drinking and put their heads on my lap, yuck!!

Saffy has got the sofa thing off to a tee - back and forth along the front and then in between each cushion - with her wet beard (only water mind you as I feed her dry food) otherwise I think my sofas would stink! Can be a bit annoying when you are sitting there and your legs keep getting shoved up in the air!!!

Both of mine are fed dry but they still insist on wiping on my sofa, glad my sofa isn't new :-D
Is so funny to hear what all your dogs do.

My boston's don't do anything...Taz after eating and he has his drink he will rub his face on our couch, Tiva's bed, the carpet and on us if we let him. If Dozer is in the room he will lick Taz's face and then he shoves his face into Taz's mouth, if Taz won't let him Dozer gets mad and whines until Taz does. :D When people come over they think Taz is being friendly but he just rubs his face all over them, I warn them ahead of time so they stop him or they will get dog slobber.

Glazby my boxer loves to give himself a good ol' shake just after he's finished eating - this allows the food slobber to go flying in all directions usually landing on the television, coffee table and anything else that was in his way.  He'll then finish off by rubbing his face up and down the sofa and then often likes to turn upside down and go mad for 5 minutes before the snorting turns into snoring!!

Bradley uses my sofa as a napkin, he likes to stick his head between the cushions and the base and run the full length

Tammy doesn't do anything she is far too polite (so she thinks).  Jasper on the other hand doesn't care tupence.  I used to feed him canned food but got fed up with gravy being wiped in my hand or my jeans.  He comes in, looks at you pleadingly to give him a fuss and then he starts.  He wipes his nose in your jumper, his chin covered in gravy gets rubbed in your jeans then his finale is to burp right in your face if he can help it.  tammy looks at him really disgusted.

Penny takes a drink, rubs her head along any available carpet, sofa, or pant leg then she jumps on the sofa and sleeps for about four hours. Lucy though is much more interesting, after finishing a meal she proceeds to stand or sit in the middle of the room and give out a long howl. She points her nose up and howls for about two or three minutes.
Does anybody have any ideas on why she does this?

ruby - 5 month cavalier - first of all looks up at me with big appealing "are you sure there isn't any seconds for me?" eyes, then pads back to her bowl to double check for leftover scraps. After that (esp if she's had a moister meal) she rubs her chin up and down the frill that goes along the bottom of the sofa to clean herself.

we reckon that she goes for the "Mr Twit's beard" policy with her mucky pup ears though - she leaves the scraps in there, we reckon she's saving them for a tasty mid-afternoon munch! [Do you remember in Roald Dahl's The Twits that Mr Twit used to leave his beard full of tasty morsels form his dinners? My brother & I loved that idea when we were little......]

Then once she's realised that dinner's well and truly over, she goes and stands by the back door until we let her out for toilet, then comes back in and demands to play mad spaniel games in the living room.

Tell you what Ruby also does that makes us chuckle - if she's had to go outside in the rain and get her precious little coat all wet, she dive bombs all over an old armchair we keep in our kitchen, covered in blankets and piled up with cushions - its a very effective way of drying herself! [So much so that last time we bathed her, we covered the chair in her towels and let her dry herself!]

:)

Just had to add to this one, our mister does the decent well mannered thing and brings out his bowl when he's finished, it would be nice that he brought it to the kitchen everytime but if I happen to be in the lounge, he brings it in to me there.  Lovely little man!!!!  Merry Xmas all.
