can anyone point me in the right direction to find a college or school for dog grooming in the west midland area,also any idea of the cost.

Have you tried your local education authority - some run courses themselves under the unbrella of 'small animal care'

It depends how far you want to take it.  If you wanted to train in order to work as a dog groomer I believe, as a rule, you do an apprenticeship (sp?) and study for a city and guilds one day a week or something.  Thats how it used to be im sure - no doubt it has probably changed now.  Although as MB said there are colleges who do grooming as part of a "animal care" course, I think you can also do short courses on grooming at special grooming colleges, dont know much about these though im afraid.
