My bitch tied with my dog about 3 weeks ago but I cannot see or feel any signs of preganacy.  At the moment she is moping around and constantly sleeping and seems hungrier than normal.  At what time would I be able to see signs of her pregnancy if she is pregnant?  She tied on day 11 of her season.  She was obviously in season when we had her but we didnot know until the following day when her took her for a health check at my local vets. Is it possible that even though they tied she did not catch?

I would appreciate any help

Thanks

Hello naomi, depending on the breed and your bitches' weight and muscle tone your vet or an experienced breeder may be able to diagnose pregnancy as early as Day 22, but it is more usual and accurate to wait until ~ Day 28. Ultrasound is usually also done at around Day 28. It is possible that she didn't take, but I wouldn't bet on it. If I'm guessing right, you'd prefer not to have pups. If she is pregnant one possibility at this stage is to spay her complete with the fetuses. But there is now a way of aborting puppies as late as 3 weeks using a particular prostaglandin and it would be worth chatting to your vet about that.

I'd say from her behaviour shes showing signs, but its too early yet for you to see physical signs.
Take the other posters advice before its too late.

Thanks for your advice.

I do want pups from her but I just feel that she is not quite physically fit for them as she is only recent to our family and her last owner could not look after her anymore and she only weighed 13kilos at her last weight check with the vet 3 weeks ago.  My vet cannot see a problem with her having pups at this weight but we both have agreed that we should wait until she regains her full body weight which should be about 15-16 kilos.  I am thinking more of her health than anything.

I will contact my vet and see what they can do for her.

Once again thanks
