hi to everyone on champdogs,
my bitch is on day 43,and i am looking after a friends dog until the weekend, and i have had to seperate them, usually they get on so well, but due to him feeling frisky with my own dog even though shes pregnant,i have had to kennel him outside,he is not the sire of my bitches puppies, and i would just like to know why he keeps trying to do this?,i did not think i would have this problem with him,if i had known i wouldnt have offered to have him for my friend, but this is turning out to be a nightmare, even though i have seperated them he keeps howling to get to her,so what is this smell of hers thats driving him nuts?can anyone explain?i have been talking to my grandmother who has offered to have him until my friend gets back, and i am seriously thinking of letting her look after him until the weekend,as it seems to be upsetting my bitch, and i dont want her to be distressed.Tess

Dont really know about this one, but will hazard a guess, it could be the pregnancy hormones that shes releasing, thats causing him to want to do this.
I would take him to your Grandmothers house, as you and your dog will get the peace and the rest that you and your bitch need, prior to her giving birth.

I have had males react to my pregnant bitches in this way, especialy if they are not stud dogs.  It is like unused males over bi5tches who are about to be, have recently been in season.  the inexpereinced male finds even the faintest differnet smell tantalising, whereas an experienced stud won't even be interested in an in season bitch (other than checking out to see how ready she is) until the right time for mating.

In these untried/confused dogs minds any difference is sexy!

All those hormones at work. An unused dog gets very confused - brains in the wrong place syndrome :D
