Can any body help us? We have a Newfoundland named Belle who has stopped eating properly. She has been in and out of the vets, has had loads of tests done but still no look. She constantly burps so the vets have put her on antacids. So far the vet bills have reached £2500 but we are still no nearer to finding the problem.
Since she was a puppy she has always been a fussy eater, we want her to eat the premium dry foods but has never taken to dry food. We have to add tinned food or cooked meats to her dinner but she has mastered the knack of seperating the dry food from it. Just recently we had to put our dogue de bordeaux to sleep as he had cardiac myopathy and it seemes since he died belle has got worse. She is now on a special diet from the vets but in the last 3 days has only eaten 4 tins, and for a newfoundland this really is a problem. She is due back at the vets today but i am loosing confidence in them as belle is loosing weight and still no nearer to eating properly. We also have a nefie pup who inhales food and pushes belle away from hers but if we try to seperate them (its not Belles pup) she hears the pup crying and frets putting her off her meal altogether.

Have you thought about feeding raw? You may also want to explore simethicone for your dog; talk to your vet; it is something that is in Bloatguard given to cattle; it is used extensively in the US to prevent bloat in dogs. I use the human version here in the UK,
