Just been home for lunch and my 19 month old Boxer has managed to munch his way through 12 chicken drumsticks - bones and all!!!

My partner was meant to put them in the fridge but forgot and so Glazby had a very nice lunch.  A bit worried about the bones though, will have to keep an eye on him incase of any problems!!

He should be fine as they are raw. Mine regularly eat drumsticks raw as part of their diet - although 12 is a tad excessive :)

I would not feed him anything else today at all!

He may be a tad constipated tomorrow and so you might find a light meal of live yoghurt might be more advisable for breakfast than his usual fare until the bone has worked its way out of his system :D

Thanks for the advice, I'll certainly try the live yoghurt as the thought of passing bones makes my eyes water!!

My poor boy was feeling rather sorry for himself last night after eating all those drumsticks!!  I think a lesson has been learned by both of us - me to check that I don't leave anything out in future and him not to be such a greedy boy!!

My only worry is that chicken bones splinter and I'm worried that they might get stuck inside him.  Does anyone know if I should be looking out for anything?

Cooked Chicken Bones splinter that is why you should never feed cooked bones.  I, and many others, feed raw chicken drumsticks/wings/thighs etc every day with no problems.

The dog is designed to process raw prey with no worries.  If there have been no problems in the 24 hours since I don't expect there will be any.

As you were out of th house he obviously had time to chew them properly and wont have gulped them in a hurry as sometimes happens with ill gotten gains, so I am sure he will be fine.
