hello everybody
my father as a 9 week old staffordshire bull terrier puppy,he also has 4 cats he as had the pup for 2 weeks now and the problem is the pup chases the cats and all the cats do is run and hide and it seems to be making the cats nervous well thats what my mother thinks, she is afraid the pup will bite the cats when he is older or jump on them, i have told her the pup just wants to play how can we get the pup to not chase the cats as it is upsetting my mother the puppy as is own crate so he is not left alone with them but it is worry my mother i told her not to worry it is how they bring him up plus the vet told her staffis dont like cats which i think as made my mother feel worse so any advice would be very grateful and would put my mothers mind at rest to hear from people who have staffs and cats

If you go to the general board on this forum, this was brought up a week or 2 ago, you'll find plenty of info. It's on page 2. Also if you search for similar topics, I'm sure you'll find more.

Hi,

Lots of people on here have cats and Staffs living in harmony (most of the time) as Anwen has already said why not join there is enough advice going on here for some of it to be good :D honest ;)

I have have two elderly cats and a year old Staffie and they with loads of paitence and a bit of common sense they live happily together.

Hi Guest
I also have a Staffy and a cat . He will occasionally chase her but in a playful way not an aggressive way .
A pup this young will see cats as a playmate and they see everyhting as a toy at this age.
Make sure the cats always have somewhere to jump to out of the way.
I would say "no" loudly when pup chases the cat-  but with supervision there is no need for your mum to be worried . If pup is allowed to chase the cats then he will think he is allowed to .
They can live in harmony and I think its bad advice from your vet to say they cant :(
