Put this on breeding, but this is not my intention!!

You may remember, that I had Tommy my Dobe Castrated, well this is now 3 months ago, now my female, Lilly has come into season......will tommy be firing dudds??...lol...or does it take longer for the sperm to clear his tubes?

Hi,my vet told me not to let my boy near my bitch's for 6 weeks so you should be okay but i would ask vet just to make sure.

Castrating your boy does not necessarily remove his desire, just his hormones

Hi There,

My girl was spayed at 14 mths, she is now 3yr old, my boy neutered at 6mths. He is now 19mths and still tries to mount my girl.
We also have two JRT's, neutered at 6mths, now 14mths, both try it on.
We have a rescue in at 7mths and he tries it on with everything, male or female, since he needs his leg off we will neuter him at the same time, hopefully that will sort out his sex drive.

Basically, don't count on neutering, boys will be boys.
Do you know any vasectomised men that go without??

Vasectomy and castration are very different operations.  With Castration the Testicles are removed, taking awy the sex hormones, whereas in Vasectomy only the tubes carrying the sperm from the testes to the outside world are cut.  The latter should have no effect on sex drive past the recovery stage.

Men are no longer castrated (sadly in some sex offenders cases), I think the last Eunuch in china died a few years ago, though the practice of castrating boys was common even inEurope in the middle ages.

For those who say prepubescent castration has no effect on a dog should read up on Eunuchs.

In many peoples expereience neutering a puppy at that sexy stage, far from removing the urge just seems to keepp them at that stae for good.  A male I bred was castrated at 5 months old, and looks like a Eunuch (Lacks the male ruff, narrower in skull, and very gawky, but sadly has been allowed to get tubby), and is still as bad at mounting as when he was done, whereas his entire litter brother is a gentleman in this respect and looks like a male.  Both work in competitive Obedience, so lack of training isn't the issue.

He would have been 9 months old when I had him done...really want to know if he can get her pregant still...so 3 months on...would there still be sperm?

Read up about Eunuch...very interesting
