Hi All,
Here for advice again.  Dill, our saluki, sleeps with us in the bedroom, on the futons (basically just mattresses on the floor, which is what people use here in Japan), which was OK when he was little, but now he's a big long saluki, we haven't had an uninterrupted night's sleep for months.  So, the idea is to put his crate in the bedroom and get him to sleep in that instead.  He's not overly fond of his crate, but will sit in it happily with the door closed while we're within sight.

I'm just wondering how I can make this easier - should I put him in there for short periods throughout the day today?  Should I just try it with the door open for the first couple of nights?  Should I just ignore him if he starts crying in there during the night?

I guess I've probably let myself in for a bit of a daunting task, so any tips or ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks a lot,
Phil

Can't you buy him one of those big plastic beds to sleep in,I know I wouldn't like to sleep in a crate if I was a dog, what colour sal is he,they are beautiful, graceful animals, just a wee bit short on brains,in fact my hubbys nickname for me is Sal as I lack a little common sense at times,:)Sandra.

Can't you get rid of the husband? ;)
My dog sleeps with me (when husband is away working) but when he comes home there just isn't room for 3 especially when our dog completely stretches out Grrrrrr..
We bought a very large size rectangular cushion/bed thing and she will happily lay on that.
Or else we also have a single duvet we fold in half and she equally likes that.

Sarah :)
