was given a freebie sample of this in the supermarket last week and finally got around to opening it yesterday.

Well it didn't tempt me and my dog wasn't overly impressed by it either so I left the bag on the side and forgot about it until this morning. By then it had dried out and wan more chewy than spongey... anyway I gave sam a 'nugget' and she went crazy for it doing every trick she could think of to get another :)

I don't think I'd use it as a diet for her but maybe as a treat or training aid - what's the general opinion?

Protein 26%, Oil 14.5%, Ash 3.5%, Fibre 1.5%, Vitamin A15000IU?kg. Vitamin d 1500 IU/kg, Vit E 200mg/kg, Copper10mg/kg as Copper SulphateWander what the other 50%+ is

Our girl is on James Wellbeloved, but a month ago the supermarket was giving free samples of Frolic and our girl loved it. I didn't use it as a main meal though and used it for treats too.
Flipping supermarkets their getting worse!! 1st toffees at the counter tempting kids now 'free' samples for pets!!
Oh did i mention those free samples of chocolate muffins :o

I daresay :( Wish they had to do a complete breakdown like with human foods.

She doesn't really love any of the prepacked treats and cocktail sausages are a bit high in fat too :o

"wonder what the other 50% is"

LOL the answers in your message - the other 50% is probably....... Water  and you can bet there's a humectant in there too.

I can't help but be suspicious of foods which have unspecified ingredients, whether for my dog or myself, I can't help thinking that the ingredients can't be that wholesome if the manufacturer won't tell you what they are.  I don't like foods with 'derivatives' in them either and what the h*** is 'poultry digest' ? and 'poultry by-products'  since chicken and chicken meal is already in THAT list of ingredients!!  I have a sneaking suspicion what they are and I wouldn't feed THAT to my dog!

I must admit that I use it as a training aid as my dogs love it and you can get a box of small sachets so they are really quite handy.  Wdn't give it as a main meal though.

I think that's what I'll do too :) It just doesn't seem 'enough' to be 'real' food.
