can anyone tell me how much excercise daily the above breed needs

I'm sure one of our DDB members will be along shortly to advise yu but from my limited knowledge of the breed I think they are a little like ourselves and get used to a level of activity - whether high or low. Of course they need a daily walk to stimulate them or they would be fairly destructive through bordom IMO.

If you are considering buying one of this or any breed I would strongly recommend reading a few books specific to the breed - as well as joining the forum as the knowledge here is a great help - sometimes literally a lifesaver :)

I hope that one of our owners of Dogue de Bordeaux's comes along soon to help you.  Be very careful where you buy one from though.  Come on Guy's where are you?

Bordeaux are very heavy Mastiff, and all mastiffs need to be brought on slowly, i have known one or two breeders to suggest carrying heavy breed pups down the stairs until they are older so they dont do damage to their bones. You have to execute extreme caution when exercising a young Mastiff, really over exercising a Mastiff at any age can still be damaging.
The proper amount of exercise can be difficult to regulate in giant breeds.

it all depend's on how old your bordeaux is you'll find adult's if fit and healthy will quite welcome a good long walk ,puppy's should take it a little more easy .our pup's are now six month's and have two walk's per day each been about 10-15 minute's round the village( at a leisurly pace),where as our adult's will easily walk 30-40 minute's with ease, the best thing to remember is don't over do it  ,you can normally tell when a bordeaux's ready to return home. you will also find that bordeaux's are more willing to take exercise in the winter month's.
this summer we found our bordeaux's where all happy with a quick 5 minute walk,as the weather was just to hot, they spent most of there time sleeping in the shade.

I would agree with Keisha and Dean on this one. As they will grow into reasonably large dogs, you will need to be careful not to overdo it when exercising a young dogue before its bones and joints are fully developed. As mature adults the are able to take a fair amount of exercise in the form of 30 - 45 minutes walking. Their heat intolerance is also well documented. Having said all that about exercising them, they do seem to be rather good at lazing around the house in between walks!

I think most of it has been said, I have bordeaux and would restrict excercise to about 15 to 30 mins at a time no more and I do not let mine go up or down steps untill they are over 18 months of age and even then I am very watchfull. If you are thinking about buying a Dogue de Bordeaux please be very carefull of where you purchase, you want a good breeder that will do all the health checks hip scores elbows x-rayed , eye tested and heart tested (preferably Doppler) and not a two min listen by the vet, also thyriod if possible.Good breeders will let you visit there premise's until you are certain that the breed is what you are looking for and you know what you are taking on they are not an easy breed and very powerfull. not for the first time dog owner,If you would like more information on the Dogue de Bordeaux Club of G.B. please get in touch with me , my e-mail address is in my profile and I will put you on to John Woods that chap that deals with membership and can give you a lot of information on the breed, Please do not go to places like Loot and Free adds as there are a lot of people out there that just see £££££££ signs without doing any check this can lead to large vet bills and great heartache, you can get a good bordeaux for the same price as some of these back yard breeders charge. Sorry to rant on but the rescue on these dogs are growing every month as people do not know what they are letting them selves in for.Out of all the bordeaux in this country only 64 were hip scored the last time I checked
