Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / 8 MONTH OLD BC'S WEEING ON BED AND FLOOR
- By ROSIEDOLLYJAZ [gb] Date 01.12.03 22:05 UTC
Hi,
I have asked many questions about my 2 BC'S and I am hoping someone will be able to help me with my problem.

They are now 8 months old and I understand that puppies this age shouldn't really be weeing indoors.  They have always been really good at going to the toilet outside when they need to providing the door is open, but if not they either go on their bed or on the floor!! as you can appreciate with this awful weather we are having I don't really want to leave the door open all day!!!

They don't seem to understand that it's not right for them to go indoors. Also we still have to leave paper down for them at night.

Please help

Thanks

I think you can answer your own question here...
"They don't seem to understand that it's not right for them to go indoors"

"we still have to leave paper down for them at night".

you need to catch them in the act and sling em outside take the paper up they should'nt need to go through the night anymore, catch them enough times and their soon get the message! becos you left the door open they were able to go when they pleased this does'nt really toilet train them they have to learn they can only go when you let them out their still young so its a bad habit you'll be able to break no problem!

Sorry my answer looks rude...I hate paper it's there just to make life easier for us not the dog.
You need to get back to basics, put them out hourly after feed/play/sleep it will soon click don't worry.
They may mess for a few nights but they won't like doing it, and eventually it should stop, because what they learn in the day should carry on through the night.

Hopefully :D

Paper may definately be the prob, last year we had two puppies about 9 months apart one had learnt that paper was ok and the other not.  The second one was toliet trained much much quicker!

I would take the paper away and follow mygirl's advice!

Thanks for the advise both of you, and I think you are right it's just easier for us to put paper down.

I'll follow the advise and see what happens

Have you thought of trying crate training if nessasary keep them in it over night as it teaches them to hold it for long periods of time even if there only in there for a bit at 1st it worked with mine
