My foster Staffy Bella...had her ear sewn up and a hole inserted further down her cheek because of ear infections.
Her other ear had multiple tumours due to not treated ear infections :( and also had to be operated on which she is just recovering well from :)
But there is a risk that they will have facial paralysis after the operation which may or may not last .
If you need to talk more contact me on xaraworlds@hotmail.com

hi guest one of my gsds some years ago had this problem constant shaking of the head pain blood los from the ear, the operation removed the middle ear canal to the outer ear and the ear sown up and fixed in an upright position. the hole was then placed into the side of his face and all in all ws a very successful op. the only maintenance then is the constant cleaning of the hole sometimes these can become a little messy and smelly but a much loved dog without any pain the cleaning is easy.  regretably he good ear also then got this problem so he ended up with 2 holes in his face they never affected him in any other way so good luck guest it is well worth it. indy

Hi there dont know if this will help but my dog has suffered with her years for about 4 years now and we were told she would need to be operated on but we were not keen to have this done as we were told thet she will end up deaf .( her ears were so bad she riped her ear scrating it and crying all the time)
anyway we were lucky a  new vet started at the vets we use and he said not to operate and he tried her on (periton) and after about 6 weeks we saw a improvement and now she is back to her old self no problem with the ears at all she started on 2 tablets  a day and is now only on one a day .
8i have suggested this treatment to a friends dog who was operated on for a ear problem simalar to my girl  and was not clearing up she put him on perition plus antibieotics  and she has had wonderful results .
might just be a road to try before you operate .
hope this give food for thought
