Hi folks, Nikki has been having diarrhoea over the past few days and tonight when she went in the dining room I noticed there was blood in it. I don't think it's internal bleeding as the blood was on the outside rather than mixed in with the poo. Do you think this could be caused by overstraining? I hope the diarrhoea clears up soon too, for her sake and the sake of the carpet.

Blood is a relatively occurence in both diarrhoea and constipation. I personally wouldnt worry about it, especially as it is on the outside and if there isnt a great deal there.
If it continues though (for a few days, and after the diarrhoea has stopped) then see your vet...but it is very common to see it in there.

I really don`t think diarrhoea over a few dys is normal, when blood then appears, unless you know whats causing that blood absolutely, then I would be concerned if it was one of mine. Does she have a temp/any other symptoms? Is she eating/drinking OK, what is she eating, anything new, how old is she & what breed? Have a word with your vet & see what they think.
