Can you use Thornit on a dogs paws and will it stop itchiness or is it purely used with ear mites ?
Gus hasnt got mites by the way but sometimes suffers from itchy paws and wondered if it would be of any use - any ideas anyone ? If it is ok to use how do you then stop your dog from licking it all off

Someone I know had a Cavalier with irritalbe paw -always licking it and discolouring.  They put some thornit in a small palstic bag, put the foot in and shook it about a bit, twice a day for a week or so.  Dog never was inclined to lick the paw when it was coated in thornit, and irritation cleared up there and then.  Dont know if this would be the officila answer from Thornit, but it worked for them.
bye

Thanks Gwen
I noticed on their site that they mentioned putting the paw in a Thornit filled bag but thought it was because they scratch their ears with the mites.
Maybe worth a go :)

While we are talking of thornit I have been told to use thornit, as a preventitive treatment. As part of the grooming I should regularly use thornit to treat the ears and then pluck any hairs growing in the ear canal. When should I start this. My pup is only 8 weeks old and it seems a bit brutal to start this so early.

why on earth would u pluck hairs from a dog's ear ? sounds painful...
im sure there must be reasons, but just sounds plain nasty to me !

Long coated breeds have hair growing in the ear canal and it has to be removed or it blocks the opening and gets infected. Most dogs dont seem to mind once they get used to it - I do my two girls while they sleep, although my boy doesnt like it much, but then he doesnt like his nails being trimmed or his feet being combed - hes just a wuss :D
