I have a six year old Rottweiller who is my most treasured companion, he is currently on thyroid medication and has been on it for over a year.  In the last two months he has been losing his hair drastically, I dont mean just a lot of hair around the house I mean it comes out in clumps when you give him a light tug.  Do you know what might cause this, he seems very healthy otherwise.

When my Boxer was diagnosed with low Thyroid he lost a lot of hair but once he was on medication it grew back. Have you had your dog's blood tested recently? I would go back to your vet asap.

Agree think he needs his medication adjusted. Can you both let me know by PM if your dogs are intact please, I am collecting data on dogs with thyroid problems. Also if you don't mind the age of onset.
