every night i put my 9 mth pup in his crate from about 11pm until 7am he never bothers but if i leave him in the kitchen closed in he poos everywhere. Some people comment on him being in there am i being cruel? He is out all day down stairs only and in the garden as i don't work if i am going out maybe longer than an hour i keep him in the crate with water toys and the radio on and he is great but some people think he should be left to wander the house (the people who comment let their dogs sleep with them) am i wrong to want to keep a bit of the house just for us? He also has regular walks 3-4 times a day.

I dont keep Gus in a crate overnight but I dont think your pup is in the crate for an exceptonally long time . A lot of people keep their dogs crated overnight. It would be a dfferent matter if he were crated everyday alone

Hi ,my 10 wk old Golden pup is crated overnight perfectly happy and no wet bedding:-)
Until we got this pup, my 9month old Golden was crated overnight I can now trust him in my utility room with a safty gate on with the other older Golden :-).
After awhile this Golen pup will also sleep with the other 2 .
In my breed they are expert chewers never have Decking with Goldens they will reduce it to matchsticks.
However like evrything else common sense is needed the pup wonders in out of her crate freely during the day and has controlled access to the 9 month old male who otherwise would not realise his own weight with her (still pup himself).

Briony:-)
