I am desperate for information on the behavior of my seven and a half month oldpoodle. Over the past 30 years I have had miniature poodles, which have been very quiet and well behaved, but Conchita who is loveley and is good at

commands such as sit-stay and walks well on her lead, but she is very hyperactive, and insists on biting our hands all the time (not viciously) playfully, and the only time she is not doing this is when she is asleep. Also when we take her out, always on her lead she wants to go to every person we meet and is so excited that she promptly wees on their feet. Putting her collar or harness on is a two man job, and is the same problea for her groomer. Do you think this is a problem that she will grow out of? Can you please put me in touch with somebody who could advise me?

I would suggest taking her to training classes. The more people and dogs she sees in a controlled way the less excited she will become, if you act calmly, firmly insist on her sitting and geeting calmly with lots of quiet praise. speak to her in a low voice, very slowly and calmly. Also try to keep your body movements slow so as not to excite her. When you pet yher make the pats/strokes very slow and soothing!

This is something that she will grow out of if you do the training, she sounds a beautifully confident and friendly girl. Many baby puppies especially bitchews will wee with excitement or appeasement. Try to ignore it and do things to keep her calm, if you get cross she will do it more, as it is a submissive gesture.

If she is a Standard or Large Minature a Gentle Leader Head Collar would give you more control.
