We have a lost dog that has been around our house now for almost a year between all the neibhors we have been feeding her. She recently had puppies. Even though we all have been taking care of her she still will not come close to us are let us touch her.She is short haired tan color with a black tongue about 25 to 30 pounds. She is a very beautiful dog. Do you know of any short hair breed of dogs with a black tongue?

Chows have black tongues

hi there im no expert but i know that chows have black tongues
is it possible that this is a cross breed?

There are 3 breeds of dog with a blue/black tongue, cant remember them though, why dont you search google?
Maybe you should contact a rescue centre or RSPCA about the dog, although it sounds like you and your neighbours are going a good job providing for her to help her survive, i cant help but think she would be better off the streets, and maybe after this litter of pups - spayed?
God knows what will happen to her if shes left to defend for herself, she could get hit by a car or treated cruelly by stupid teenagers, in my opinion the best thing for her is a stable home?

There are two breeds of dog with black tongue. It does not sound like a chow, but could be a Shar-pei. They can be black, 18-20", 40lb... look here. shar pei

The Eurasier may have a black tongue, but they are a long haired breed, and the guest's mystery dog is a short haired breed.

I do not know if they have a black tongue, does anybody know if they do?

Yes the Eurasier can have a black tongue or blue or even marbled/spotted or just pink anything goes really, Mine have a mixture of both
