I'd welcome any advice on pet insurance - I received 6 weeks free insurance with my puppy and have carried this on but when I looked at the policy it would not pay out if she died - and yet this is a plan from the biggest insurer in the UK. Am I being overly pessimistic in worrying about this?

Try E&L.
Most insurance companys do pay out if your dog dies but i think the exceptions are if its during an operation, or due to an illness...which leaves you only getting money if your dog is run over, dies of old age, etc. I think thats right. E[$L are very well priced and you can chose from different levels of cover] bronze silver gold or platinum.

Good God, dont tell me im with the worst insurance company ever! Although i must say, the package ive got (gold) seems very good and the service was good too.
Please tell me your experiences with them.I will search on here aswell.
Sharon

If you put E and L in a few search engines you will come up with quite a few posts
most not good Im afraid.
I am with Pinnacle and have to say they are fantastic.

I am with pet plan. I am not sure but maybe the supermarket insurances go a year at a time.

I have had E&L insurance for 4 years and had various claims on my 9 dogs and have never run into any problems with them nor had any problems with any settlements. I have on the other hand had a horrible experience with Pet plan Insurance.
I guess any insurance company has its down falls???

E and L are awful, I'm still fighting with them (over my cat), apparentely they don't pay for the time they are in hospital. I've just had a row with them and said did they expect me to get my cat every day whilst on a drip, they also don't cover their food, they are a nightmare and my vet had warned me but it was too late.

Been doing a bit of research and I found that More Than seem reasonably priced while offering higher payouts for most things and covering your dog should she die due to illness before 11.
I'm with Pinnacle, who offered the best package at a very reasonable price! They pay out the highest amounts I've seen ( up to £5000 in vets fee's for example ) they were cheaper than most - I pay £12 a month for a Gordon Setter puppy. I did get cheaper, ( and dearer!!! ) quotes, shop around, but make sure you read the small print!!

Stay away from E&L! I haven't met anybody who has anything good to say about them! I'm with Petplan which is the most expensive but offers a very high level of cover (unlimited vet fees for the most expensive plan). Before signing up i did the usual web searches, consulted all my dog ownig friends and talked to my vet. My vet was reluctant to name and shame companies but did eventually admit that E&L were almost always problematic when it came to paying up on claims.

mark and spencer are very good, life time cover, pay £13,84 plus the renew just came in today for chase and it the same price as last year,i had my money worth out of them chase has had a bill over £500.00 THIS YEAR AND HE ONLY A YEAR OLD.they pay up very quickley too.i got 3 dogs with them 2 with pet plan, once the girls have had their last litter i will change to m/s,beacuse p/p do whelping cover.
