We are looking to buy a weirmaraner puppy, a bitch if possible. Our budget is approx.£500. Although we have never had a wirmaraner puppy ourselves, we have looked after one briefly. We have children aged nearly 6 and 9, own a good sized house with a big garden and live in Hertfordshire. There would be somebody at home all the time as I only work part time in the local school at lunchtime. We would be pleased if somebody could help us or advise us if they think we wouldn't be suitable 'parents'. Many thanks - Marion and Kevin West.
Have a look on the Champdogs Breeders Index. Make sure the dogs have had relevant health checks; and why not pop onto Amazon and buy 'The Perfect Puppy' by Gwen Baily, and at the same time, pick up a book on Weims too.
Why not register, it's free, and there are stacks of people with a great deal of info on dogs, who will be able to help with any questions you may have :)

The best thing to do is to get in touch with the Weimaraner Club of Great Britain or the Weimaraner Association (both on the web). Their members have to abide by a strict code of ethics which mean that bitches are not mated before 2 years old or whelped after 7, they cannot have more than 3 litters in the bitches lifetime and they are encouraged to have breeding stock hip scored. The breed average is 13. Both breeders and owners of stud dogs are expected to help with rehoming if necessary and reputable breeders will always have the puppies back. They will put you in touch with reputable breeders but you may have to wait for some time as they may have waiting lists. It is always tempting to buy something advertised in the local paper or from one up the road but it costs just as much, if not more, to look after a poor specimen as it does a good one. £500 is the average price for a weimaraner puppy and bitches should cost no more than dogs. You then need to consider whether you want a short hair or a long hair and whether you want it docked or not.
It is important in this breed that you look very carefully at the temperament of both sire and dam as Weimaraners are very strong willed and well as strong physically. If you have done your research you will know that when mature they need an enormous amount of exercise and must be trained from when they arrive as a 7 week old puppy. They have extremely strong hunting instincts which, if not controlled, can prove to be a drawback whilst out.
Hope this helps.

Look at champ dogs Search.
Gundog>Weimaraner>Puppies.
Good luck in finding your puppy. Weimaraners are priced nowadays £550 upwards.
For a well bred dog thats been health tested that is. For a non health tested dog you can pay a lot less. But who would want to?? As the vets bills would sure mount up.
Look at Weimaraner Clubs on champdogs also and get in touch with the Weimaraner Club of Great Britain or the Weimaraner Association for a puppy list.
ONLY get a puppy from health tested parents of that are free from HD. Go to an experienced breeder also that knows their line is free from other issues. Also look at both parents temperaments.
The breed average score for hips is 13.
