:-) I must admit, although he is really hilarious (p.k), his jokes can sometimes be harsh, and that is the bit i do not like. Other times, he does not make jokes out of other peoples lifestlye and habbits etc, which is the part i like.

Peter Kay is a God the funniest man on TV

I remember seeing the ads for the first series of Peter Kaye and thinking it looked pretty stupid .
One night when there was nothing else on we ended up watching it and now I am a convert - brilliantly funny man :D
- By SaraN [gb] Date 24.11.03 19:17 UTC
I must agree with you i_love_dogs! Ricky Gervais is just hilarious in the office and I’m dieing to see ‘animals’! (Live stage performance) I do like Peter Kay as well but I think Ricky rules the comedy nest in my book!

peter kay is brilliant you need to understand northern life to understand him he is so funny but I like to watch his dvds a few time the more you watch the funnier he is.its quick wit. the nice thing about peter kay i s he doesnt exploit his fame he leaves his audience wanting more and you try getting a ticket to see him its more likely you can get to meet the queen he is brilliant. he basis his humour on everyday life which lets face it we have to laugh at ourselves cos if we cant we are sunk.If you dont know much about northerneres then you wont find him funny shame really cos you dont know what your missing :) :) :)
- By digger [gb] Date 25.11.03 08:34 UTC
Oh errrrrrrrr - so how come hubby and I love Peter Kay - yet Big D is from Norfolk, and I'm from the Home Counties? We love Billy Connolly too, and Jasper Carrot, and Alan Davies - but then we also appreciate the vast differences between the people of Britain, so maybe that's what it is???
- By mattie [gb] Date 25.11.03 08:53 UTC
Sorry when I said northern humour I didnt mean that only northerners found it funny :) its just so true to life we once had a Pub and I could pick out several characters which could have been based on our customers, one Young man used to come in he told everyone he was in the SAS and he used to bring a little fold up coat hanger to hang his leather jacket on he was very amusing the tales he told, everyone new he was telling porkies :) and Im convinced Brian Potter is my ex husband :) :) :)

Garlic bread? no ill stick to milk loaf :)
- By miloos [gb] Date 25.11.03 11:00 UTC
mattie, i totally agree with you about northern humour!!we went to see peter kay last november in blackburn and seriously didnt stop laughing for the whole show.my friend nicola went to drama college with him, and siad he was very quiet and a teachers pet!!!!

I find Peter Kay hilarious, just been out to buy his new DVD but they are sold out, so will have to wait. But I did buy the complete set of The League of Gentlemen at the weekend, which I find hilarious also. Does anyone else watch The League of Gentlemen
- By BeardieBoy [gb] Date 25.11.03 15:38 UTC
Love Peter Kay, Ricky Gervais, and the League of Gentlemen team. Also add to the List Harry Hill, Alan Partridge and Ali G and the Royle Family. The last few years have been a real purple patch for British comedy.
I really don't get Eddie Izzard at all and find it hard to laugh at him. The transvestite thing unsettles me. I can laugh at camp comedians like Graham Norton and Julian Clary and even those who dress in drag like Lilly Savage. But someone who looks and acts like a man, has the appearence of a rugby player or builder and stands there telling jokes wearing nail varnish and a girls blouse confuses me. I don't know whether I should laugh at him because its part of his act or I should ignore it because it isn't. I feel I am either left out of the joke cos I don't understand it or a that I am a neandethal who can't accept alternative lifestyles.
- By theemx [gb] Date 29.11.03 04:13 UTC
Ive just been to see Eddie Izzard......

I think i know what you are getting at there.....Eddie IS a transvestite,,,,,,its not 'part of the act'.....its part of who he is.

Not getting at you, (and nope, ur not a neanderthal, a neanderthal cant say 'i dont know why, but i dont get it!)......

His humour is not completely obvious straight away, its more observational comedy, and its based around anything that catches his imagination (this tour, Greek mythology featured....like, how does medusa get a hair cut.....).

The way i see it is...laugh with him, or at him because he is funny...not because he may be funny looking. Personally i find him rather attractive, though i have to say the outfit he was wearing for the second half tonight was erm, more 'mumsy' in a disturbingly glittery way  than attractive!
I personally liked going to see someone who is not ashamed or afraid to be who they really are. What kind of clothes he likes to wear, at the end of the day, is not really a biggie.....i dont claim to understand transvestism, im not a transvestite, i errrrr hang on, im female but u wont get me in a skirt for love nor money......does that mean i am a transvestite?

*goes away to think*

Errrrrrrr.......try watching an Eddie Izzard dvd with ur eyes shut???? is he funny then? If so, errrrrr then learn to ignore the clothes, if not, then he just doesnt amuse u. Simple, i think....

Ill just go adn work out the pro's and cons and emotional and social effects of polyamorous relationships........

Em (confused, and the wine, vodka and whisky ive drunk this evening aint helpin)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 29.11.03 08:24 UTC
Isn't it funny ...I never notice that Eddie is a transvestite ..not ever..I just think he is one of the funniest people alive :D :D He has better legs and bone structure than me too *humph*

:D :D
- By theemx [gb] Date 29.11.03 19:19 UTC
hehehe, Mel, you would have noticed last night, he was wearing a red lacey basque, with DD fake boobs, an incredibly short skirt, fancy tights and veyr high heels! and still i thought 'Phwwwwwwoooooooaaaaar!

Yes, he looks better in a skirt than i ever will!

Shouldn't this be on the 'Foo' board? Don't get me wrong, I love Peter Kay, but I can't find the relevance to dogs.... ;o)
- By Tots [gb] Date 25.11.03 17:00 UTC
Money gall;

I know it has no relevance to dogs, but it doesn't really matter where you put the post, as most people use the "active topics" section, where all the, well, active topics are posted. It makes sence to do that instead of searching through every different board. Sorry if you are upset by my post being in the wrong place, but i do not find it necessary you complaining. If you didn't like it, you should not have read it. :-)

ps- "it tastes exactly the same!"
"what time is it over there?"
"its that fine rain that soaks you through"
