You really need to be a glasses wearer to appreciate this! My poor friend was walking her dog this morning,it was cold, damp and a bit foggy. Her glasses kept steaming up,but never the less she just kept on walking across the field, when suddenly from out of the blue a black and white terrier came charging at her and her dog.
She yelled at it to go away, because her dog is so timid around other dogs, but it just kept on coming, there was no sign of the 'owner' at all,so my friend took off her glasses and placed them in her pocket, ready to do battle.
Looking up once more without her glasses the black and white terrier suddenly turned into a carrier bag blowing in the wind.I didn't laugh at her, really I didn't:D

A certain person who I cannot name was explaining to me how she was puzzled when driving down the motorway seeing the matrix signs warning of FO9! I did laugh, and laugh, and laugh 8)

The best option, have laser surgery. Best thing I ever did and no more steamy glasses.

I wear contacts however have reached the advanced age of requiring bifocals, impossible with contacts; did it hurt, how long were you "blind" so to speak and what is your level of sight.
I have been put off by "side effects" reported by some of flashing lights etc.

Did it hurt? No, the procedure itself for me was horrible but not painful in anyway. I had mine done at 6.30pm on a very sunny day so the journey home even at 8pm was difficult to say the least. The light sensitivity is huge straight after.
Went to bed, got up and thought blimey I can see, no need for sunglasses in the house like some people just in the garden.
I had Lasek so it took a couple of weeks to get over it and even now they are still healing but only very minor things going on now.
I never suffered with flashing lights etc, but some people do. I was also very lucky in that I had no pain at all, nothing, I kept waiting for it but it never came.
Lasik you get over in a couple of days, Lasek can take upto 6 months for everything to settle back down again but this procedure comes with less risk of infection afterwards.
I have 20/20 vision in both eyes seperately, and slightly better than that with both eyes together.
If you want to know anymore just ask, I asked loads & loads of people before having it done but I'm so glad now.

Hi
I had Laser surgery last August on both eyes through Boots in London. And its the best thing i have ever done!!!! It wasnt painful, a bit uncomfortable my eyes felt like i had been peeling onions for about an hour after then i just went home slept for a few hours and they were fine. I had to wear covers for the rest of that day and over night but when i took them off the next day i could see fine
Would reccomend it to anyone

I had both eyes done together and it cost £2000.00 for both. I had to wear special contact lenses for 4 days. When I went to have them removed the surgeon couldn't beleive how far I could see as I could see the 5th line down on the chart and shouldn't have been able to see it until the second week of recovery.
Brinny, did you have Lasik?

can't do links but have a look at this web site, I found it most useful.
www.lasik-eyes.co.uk
It's a forum with people putting their experiences on it along with the different companies that do the procedure.

here :)
My sister is going to get it done costing her 25 hundred to have both eye's done. She has really bad eye sight. I want to, but am scared of my eye's getting worse or maybe even going blind :( Can't wait till she is done because they are taping the whole thing and she gets to keep the tape, this way she can go home and watch it all, I myself can't wait to see it. Maybe then I'll change my mind and consider it after my daughter's braces are paid for since thats costing us 49 hundred :( at least we get to make payments over a 2 year period :) so thats good.
Did you get a VHS Tape as well?

Hi Brinny
It took me nearly 2 weeks to get over mine, I lost the ability to read but I knew that would happen, also I couldn't see the computer until the 2 weeks was up, it's a really strange sensation not being able to read all of a sudden.
I still have to open my eyes carefully in the morning, where the cells are still re-growing sometimes they stick to the eye lid, and boy does that hurt if you open your eye quick and pull them off.
I still can't believe I can lie in bed and see the clock radio etc, after all these years, it's brilliant.

I have needed glasses since I was 8 years old. I got contacts in grade 8 and I still think they are great (8+ years later) However, I have been thinking about getting my eye fixed so I don't have to deal with little pieces of plastic in my eyes all the time, however, the emense cost is what is stopping me. Do those of you who have gotten it done think it was worth the expense.
Thank you all for your information and experience.

For me yes it was worth the expense.
I had contacts for 20 years which in the end gave me scar tissue. I had to wear my glasses for 6 months before they would treat me, then I had to have lasek because of the scar tissue. With Lasik they cut the cornea, but they could not risk doing that to me as the scar tissue would not heal again.
I would not advise anyone to wear contacts for such a long time, the damage they cause is not good, they stop the oxygen getting to the eyes.
I haven't paid out right for mine, I got interest free credit.
