My 8 month ESS is in season and has been suffering from diarrhoea and a bit of sickness since the day it started. We took her to the vets who said she couldn't really tell if there was much wrong while she was in season as it can affect some bitches like this. She listened to her heart and said that Dottie had a heart murmur - she was surprised as it's not been spotted before and listened again and said it was definitely there. Has anyone ever heard that being in season can bring this sort of thing out? We've been advised to wait until the season ends and take her back then. Is this likely to make much difference or do you think that if she has a murmur now, she will have it when the season ends?

Tummy upset yes, particularly on the first season but think it unlikely that it could cause a heart murmur, could be that she is over emotional at the moment and the vet wishes to check the heart when she is a bit calmer. Don't worry too much, had a bitch once that was diagnosed with a bad heart murmur at a year old and lived to 15½
