ok, whilst I'm posting advise about my dogs poos, the stupid lad has gotten an unopened box of ciggy's out of my bag, snuck them into his crate, and has ate a few !!! There are about 8 butt ends there, and a load of tabacco in his bed. I've worked it out that he's easten about 4, ish.
What should I do??? IS there anything I can do??? Will he be ok?????

Hi - ring your vet - best person to ask in an emergency :) they should be happy to advise you over the phone.
- By Steph33 [gb] Date 20.11.03 22:34 UTC
Hi and thanks.
I rang vet immediately and he said the amount Henry ate would probably make him vomit, but that he'd be ok. <<breathed a huge sigh of relief>>
Have watched him like a hawk since. He's not bin sick, but has played and slept on and off, since.
Bloody dogs..take your eyes off them for 2 mins, and they cause havoc with your nerves...
And you'll know all about that Chloe with what Willis and Phoebe have gotten up to (as per your past past about chewing. DOGS !!! worse than toddlers.
Thanks for helping tho', you 2.

Watch he doesn't get addicted ;) :D

I know what you mean though - I went out to feed the horses today, and despite calling Josh (16'2 Irish Draught horse) he was nowhere to be seen. I found him peering over the back garden fence, talking to Phoebe (Great Dane), who then managed to squeeze through a 2 inch gap under the fence (seriously) and come flying over with him to get her breakfast  *heart attack*

"Watch he doesn't get addicted " ............. Chloe !!! Shame on you girl ..... ;) LMAO and ROFL

Hey, I remember your Josh, no need to describe him...seen the pics, he's a beauty...as was Annie. Did you get my mail btw?
Can't believe a dog the size of Phoebe can squeeze through a gap that size...but just goes to show, they WILL get what/where they want. Sorry but had to laff at the thought of them talking to each other, and then come dashing over like partners in crime for their breakfast..lol. Pity you couldn't have gotten a picture of them :)
Love stories like that. :)

Yeah, got your email thanks - had a bit of a bad time of it that week.

I put your pics up on my site too :)

Phoebe's a nightmare for squeezing through gaps, fortunately, she doesn't go near the horses....unlike Willis. He has narrowly avoided being kicked by Josh recently and Annie in the past. Problem is that the other chestnut witch comes round to the back garden, turns round, and shoves her backside through the fence at Willis - he then nibbles it and tugs on her tail and she lets him!! No-one else can get near her, but she lets a great dane bite her bum  I give up.

lol lol lol at the "witch" and Willis. Honestly..dogs - horses. Who'd have em?? lol You'll have to get some very recent pics of the dogs and the horses together...would be lovely to see them all now, all grown up. God, sounds like I'm talking about kids here, rather than animals lol
How ya doing now, btw?? Kept a look out on the board (don't get too much time nowadays to check everyday) to see how you were getting on after Annie, but never ssaw anything.
Don't know you Chloe, but felt proud of you that you could put yourself out so much for someone's animal, then put yourself thru heartbreak for her wellbeing. There's not many people about like that. And that wasn't meant to sound patronising.

Thanks Steph, thats a lovely thing to say, I really appreciate it. I picked up Annie's ashes last week, and I'm going to scatter them this weekend. My friend put them in a lovely box for me with her name on, and took a lock of her mane and her tail. I've felt much better since then, and am at peace with my decision. I still miss her like mad, but she was in such pain - it was unbearable to see. Some things happen for a reason, and clearly I was there when she needed someone, and I am really glad about that. I've even managed to put her rugs away!

The chestnut mare isn't "mine" either. Her owner never comes to see her, doesn't feed her - and left a headcollar on her to grow in, rather than learn how to catch her (basically you chase her round the field until she gets fed up, then she stops and lets herself be caught :D ). She's fiesty, independent, and utterly gorgeous. I love her temperement, and I have spent hours and hours getting to know her. She still only tolerates me, but thats better than nothing ;) She has some respect for me though, cos no-one else has got near her for years, she used to have to be sedated even for the vet, but now she has resigned herself to being groomed, having her teeth done and her hooves trimmed, and she doesn't kick or bite at all. I'll see her days out with her (she's 26 but fit as a fiddle), I couldn't leave her now.

do you know what...you can make me laff and cry all in the one posting !!!!
Hearing about Annie, and her ashes, her rugs going away...lump in my throat. :( then hearing about the 'witch' (sorry, can't help that name now :D ) getting chased around the field "til she gets fed up"...laffing away, all by myself....:D
Your way with animals reminds me of myself. I'm a huge softee too, and would do anything for anyone..... person, animal or beast :) can't stand to see someone/something in need.
If I know anything about you, I know that you will honour your word in making sure the 'witch' is well looked after til her time is up. You've done good with her so far, and I know you will continue it. Good on ya girl :)
Chloe, what is her name....I am not going to call her the witch forever :) I just can't do it lol
- By Carla Date 21.11.03 09:41 UTC
The chestnut witch's real name is "Shah". Of course, we call her Shah-ron because she's stroppy and she always flicks her mane around. You have to wear trainers when you go in the field with her. To run. And if you go in with a feedbucket you have to stand your ground while she gallops up and skids to a halt in front of you, snorting. Of course, sometimes, she can't stop and skids straight past...so you have to be ready to deploy the "bull charging" technique and step out of the way at the last moment :D

Shah-ron (I like that :D ) sounds like a right character :)
How's Josh getting on?? :)

Hope your boy is better soon. Similar think happened to me a couple of days ago. Went upstairs for a few minutes and came down to find my six month lab finishing what was a newly opened packet of plain chocolate digestives. One frantic call to the vet who did some calculations and told me he wasn't in any danger but would probably be sick, have a tummy ache and diarrhoea. I then spent a sleepless night watching him and can say the only difference I noticed was that he seemed to be even more pleased with himself than he usually is!!! Dogs - who'd have em!
- By Steph33 [gb] Date 21.11.03 12:35 UTC
Jen...dogs are like men.....can't live with them, can't live without them :D

Tobacco can be toxic so contact your vet asap.
