Can anyone tell me if an orange roan cocker spaniel is a golden colour? We are looking for a golden cocker but are confused by the colours.

As Sooz says, orange roans & solid golds are 2 different colours, however the same gene is responsible for the orange colouring in the roans & the gold colouring in the solids. The difference between the 2 is that golds are all one colour (just a small area of white permitted on the chest) whereas orange roans or orange & whites have patches of solid colour on a white base, flecks of colour on the white areas giving the effect known as roaning. Whichever colour you decide to go for, the most important thing is that you do your homework & only contact specialist, reputable breeders, ideally on recommendation from one of the Cocker Spaniel Clubs.
