I have a 4 /12 month old setter. As expected she is "all legs" right now. Over the past 4 weeks, not every morning but 2/3 time a week when she wakes from her long nights sleep she crys loudly and writhes for only 10/20 seconds (seems like 20 years to me as I fret so to hear her cry so loudly). I think it might be cramp as she recovers so quickly. If I am around when she wakes I help her to stretch her legs out before she puts weight on them and when I do this we never get the episode. What do you think ? Cramp ? Has anyone else experienced this with their pups ?

Don't think this is normal and if she were mine I would want it investigated. Is it a cry of pain or just a noisy yawn, one of mine does that as he wakes and streches but it is not pain. If you think it is pain, then take her to a vet for investigation.
